Extraction at industrial scale of soy, rapeseed and sunflower with the methyloxolane, a 100% plant-based solvent recently approved for food extraction in Europe

Abstract: The 2-methyloxolane is a 100% plant-based solvent produced and sold by EcoXtract®. It has been approved as suitable for food extraction in Europe in 2023 and it is under review in the US, in UK and in Australia. Pennakem Europa, together with 4 european partners and a financial support from the European Union, converted a 10 Tons/day Crown plant located in U.K., and carried out a first campaign in 2021 on soy. In 2022, a new campaign with further modifications was carried out on soy, rapeseed and sunflower. The presentation will describe the further plant modifications and the results of the campaign.
