Biofuels - Part II

This session will discuss approaches to convert hydrocarbons produced by the microalgal species Botryococcus braunii into a biobased lubricant that could be a source of aviation fuel. Also, renewable diesel feedstocks contain metal ion and phospholipid contaminants that can reduce the life of precious metal catalysts used in the production of renewable diesel. A presenter will detail filter mechanisms for optimal impurity removal. Also, enzymatic processes boost the efficacy and yield of FFA/TAN waste oils or byproduct conversion into high-quality feedstock for hydrotreated vegetable oil.
