This session will cover applications from olive oil phenolics to spore-powered cleaning products. Olive oil pomace was efficiently valorized to produce phenolic compounds through green technologies. Also, applications using spores from the bacterial genera Bacillus produce sustainable, gentle cleaning formulas. In addition, soy processing renders protein-carbohydrate separation difficult and destroys the natural oil body and protein structure. A new single-step, enzyme-based process converts low-value soybean carbohydrate into good fermentation feedstock for making biofuels and bioproducts.
