This session will review the impact of degumming, washing, and neutralization on the clarification of vegetable oils, particularly how acid degumming affects the removal of phosphorus during bleaching. A presenter will examine approaches to reduce energy consumption in edible oil processing, focusing on energy-efficient installations and techniques. Also, hexane is the most popular solvent for extracting vegetable oils but is neurotoxic to humans. The session will review the current state of research and the feasibility of industrial applications of various alternatives to hexane.
