NMR is a fast, non-destructive technique to estimate adsorption under hardness scenarios using two anionic surfactants. The session will compare NMR results with the methylene blue method. Also, naphthenic acids are important factors in forming and stabilizing bitumen emulsions. A talk will discuss how the hydrophilic-lipophilic difference was combined with the net-average curvature model to guide the addition of surfactants to achieve very low interfacial tensions. Also, flowback aids facilitate the return of fracturing fluid and enhance oil production. A presenter will discuss nonionic and anionic surfactants and provide the optimal configuration of ethoxylation and alkyl chain lengths.
