This session will explore the unusual phase behavior of sophorolipids that can be used to realize unique personal care products. Natural oil-based hair conditioners require a fundamental understanding of the human hair surface with chemical and mechanical damage, and a talk will detail a linear regression model to identify the optimum oil viscosity and film thickness. The session will also explore molecular dynamic simulation methods to provide insight into surfactant morphology. In addition, the MARTINI coarse-grained framework was adapted to improve the utility of these models, and the results can be extended to more complex formulations.
