This session will discuss the evolution of the hydrophilic-lipophilic difference and net-average curvature (HLD-NAC) model as an equation of state for surfactant-oil-water systems. A presenter will explore tuning nanoparticle surfaces using binary ligands to achieve colloidal stability and high interfacial activity. The fundamental mechanistic interest for foam applications include mobility control in carbon dioxide sequestration and enhanced oil recovery. The session will also detail ongoing research efforts to advance the future of microemulsion-based formulations and technologies.
