Surfactants play an integral role in the development of herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, seed care, biologicals, and crop enhancement in agriculture. The session will focus on second-generation biosurfactants produced by microorganisms through fermentation. A presenter will address the need for new polymers that meet microplastic regulations and sustainability requirements for seed coatings. This new polymer functions as both a dispersant and a coating and produces similar or improved flowability and dust-off properties of coated seeds. The session will also examine the potential industrial applications of rhamnolipid, a microbe-produced biosurfactant.
