PhD Candidate
University of Toronto
Toronto, ON, Canada
Hello! My name is Durgesh Kavishvar, and I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto. Currently, I am a member of Dr. Arun Ramchandran's research group, where our focus lies in the areas of microfluidics, rheology, and surface science. My doctoral work centers around the development of an economical microfluidic platform to assess material properties, specifically yield stress. Through our experimental and simulation work, we have successfully demonstrated the precision of our platform in determining low yield stress values within a few milliPascals. These findings hold immense potential to bring about significant advancements in industries such as oil and gas, mineral extraction, and clinical research related to blood rheology.
Alongside my expertise in rheology and microfluidics, I have a keen interest in the areas of biomaterials, microscopy, suspensions, and transport phenomena. As I progress in my academic career, I am hoping to leverage this knowledge and work on exciting projects in industry. Outside of the lab, I enjoy playing chess and following soccer and cricket matches. I also have a deep passion for history and enjoy reading about various historical events and eras. Through my diverse interests, I strive to maintain a well-rounded perspective and approach to my work as a chemical engineer.
