Assistant Professor
Aalborg University
Aalborg, Denmark
Simon Gregersen obtained his M.Sc. in nanobiotechnology from Aalborg University (Denmark) in 2010 and his Ph.D. in nanobioscience from University of Copenhagen (Denmark) in 2014. Throughout his studies, his work was particularly focused on design and synthesis of peptides, their diverse applicability, combined with broad application of diverse analytical approaches for characterization of structure and functionality. In his Ph.D., he developed a novel platform for high-throughput screening of peptides for their ability to chelate noble metal ions and subsequently stabilize metal nanoclusters with fluorescent properties. After obtaining his Ph.D., he accepted industrial employment working as R&D chemist and project manager in development, validation, and accreditation of analytical methods for envireonemtal analysis with focus on gas chromatopgaphic and mass spectrometry methodology. In 2018, he rejoined academia at Aalborg University (Denmark), working with primary focus on protein analysis by mass spectrometry using LC-MS/MS and bioinformatics with specific focus on new and alternative food protein sources and characterization of protein hydrolysates. In 2020, he was also appointed interim Staff Scientist in Mass Spectrometry, with primary responsibility for the MS core facilities at Aalborg University, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience.
