Eda Ceren Kaya is a Ph.D candidate and a graduate research assistant in Food Science Institute of Animal Science and Industry Department of Kansas State University. She is working on a PhD project "characterization and development of sorghum DDGS for value added food applications" funded by Global Food Systems Seed Grant Program and supported by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). She is working with Assistant Professor Dr. Umut Yucel. Eda Ceren Kaya obtained her bachelor’s and master of engineering degree from the Department of Food Engineering, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey in July 2017 and September 2019, respectively. Kaya had a professional work experience in UNILEVER Turkey Supply Chain Department as Strategic Demand Planner between 2017-2018.
Her master’s degree thesis and published article was related to chia seeds and formulation and characterization of high pressure processed (HPP) nano-emulsion systems. She started her Ph.D in Food Science Institute of Animal Science and Industry Department of Kansas State University in January 2020. Her research interest focuses on value-added food applications from sorghum and sorghum byproduct. In addition to this, she is also included a few side projects which focus on use of acetyl-TAG from transgenic Camelina sativa as a novel plasticizer and stabilizer in different food applications and
