Dr. Richard Ashby PhD is a senior research / lead scientist in the Sustainable Biofuels and Coproducts Research Unit (SBCP) at the USDA, ARS, Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC). He has 32 years of research experience in the areas of biopolymer and biosurfactant synthesis and molecular characterization. Dr. Ashby currently serves as Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Oil Chemists’ Society (JAOCS) and in an editorial capacity for 3 additional journals and recently served as co-editor of the book entitled “Biobased Surfactants: Synthesis, Properties, and Applications, 2nd Edition” published by Academic Press and AOCS Press. He is the author or coauthor of 129 publications, 150 presentations and holder of 7 patents.
