Suzana Ferreira-Dias is Associate Professor with Habilitation of the School of Agriculture (Instituto Superior de Agronomia, ISA), University of Lisbon (ULisboa), Lisbon, Portugal. S. Ferreira-Dias obtained PhD in Food Engineering (ISA), MSc in Biotechnology/Biochemical Engineering (School of Engineering, Technical University of Lisbon) and graduation in Food Engineering (ISA). Her main research is focused on Technology/Biotechnology of Oils and Fats, mainly on the development and optimization of sustainable enzyme-catalyzed processes to produce (i) functional structured lipids and (ii) biodiesel, using edible and non-edible crude and refined oils. Also, she has been working on (iii) the valorization of agro-residues, (iv) vegetable oils characterization and extraction technologies (mainly olive oil), and (vi) sensory analysis for quality control and development of foods. Prof. S. Ferreira-Dias is Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Oil Chemists ‘Society since 2010.
