Kirk Raney is currently Vice President of Technology at A&I Ventures, LLC, a consulting company that assists in development of sustainable chemical products and processes. He received his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tulsa and his MS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Rice University. Kirk worked for over thirty years for Shell Development, Shell Chemicals, and Shell E&P in a variety of surfactant application areas including household laundry products, dishwash products, chemical enhanced oil recovery, oil production chemicals, and wastepaper deinking. He also has performed fundamental research on detergency mechanisms and provided technical support for the development and marketing of several new surfactant products. Kirk is a co-inventor on 23 US patents, 5 US provisional patent applications, and over 100 foreign patent filings and has authored or co-authored 37 published technical papers, book chapters, and invited lectures. He served as Associate Technical Editor for JSD from 1998 to 2007 and was awarded the AOCS Rosen Memorial Award in 2013 for industrial research and contributions to the field of surfactant chemistry.
