Prof. Brijesh K Tiwari is a principal research officer at TEAGASC and adjunct Professor at University College Dublin, Ireland. He obtained his Master degree at the Central Food Technological Research Institute (India) in 2003, and his PhD at the University College Dublin (Ireland) in 2009. Before starting his PhD, he was employed as a Research Scientist at the Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology (IICPT, India). Subsequently during his PhD studies, he secured a Lecturer position in University College Dublin and later moved to commence a fulltime faculty position in Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) in 2010; later in 2011, he was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in MMU.
A key focus of Prof. Tiwari’s research relates to the investigation of green and sustainable technological solutions to food industry challenges in the area of biopolymer (like proteins) extraction and preservation. Prof. Tiwari has developed, funded and led ab initio his Advanced Food Processing Technologies Research Group (AFT, www.aftgroup.ie) to become a strong multidisciplinary research group with an excellent international track record in delivering high quality research and innovation metrics, including patents and technology transfer. His research group currently comprises 21 researchers: including 2 Research Officers, 6 Post Docs, 1 technician. To date Prof Tiwari, have supervised >25 research theses to completion as Principal Supervisor/Co-supervisor. Supervised >20 postdoctoral/contract researchers. His research group has hosted Visiting Faculty/researchers from EU and non-EU (UK, Brazil, France, Italy, Serbia and USA).
Prof. Tiwari has a strong publication track record including 300 peer reviewed journal papers, 108 international conference papers, 94 book chapters, 1 patent, 12 edited/authored books and 1 book series (IFST Advances in Food Science Series). He has an h-index of 67 (Scopus) and 80 (Google). Prof Tiwari as a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), Fellow Institute of Food Science and Technology (UK), Association of Food Scientists & Technologist (India), he has been engaged in several committees related to processing technologies.
