Solmaz Tabtabaei is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Howard University. She received her PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto (Canada). There she conducted experimental and theoretical work to develop a new and sustainable process that simultaneously produces biodiesel and food-grade protein isolates from an underutilized feedstock. In November 2014, Solmaz received MITACS Elevate Postdoctoral Fellowship and moved to the University of Waterloo (Canada), before joining Howard University in August 2016. Her research activities are mostly focused on developing novel bio-separation and catalytic processes for the sustainable production of high-quality food as well as advanced biofuels and biochemical from agro-materials.
