Dr. Randy Maglinao is the Senior Research Scientist at Montana State University-Northern’s Advanced Fuels Center. He has extensive experience and knowledge in process engineering, cross metathesis of oils, alkylation of aromatics with olefins, and advanced catalytic conversion of vegetable oils into hydrocarbons and aromatics. He also directs out-of-the-box research projects, particularly in developing bio-based fuels and additives, and spearheads projects in evaluating fuels, fuel additives, lubricant formulations through physical and chemical characterization and engine performance testing. He has successfully lead and managed projects (over $800K of funding) which includes production of renewable high-octane number compounds and propylene glycol. His current research involves development of sustainable fuel additives from waste, such as used vegetable oils and waste sludges. Randy earned his PhD degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering at University of Idaho.
