Rycal Blount is a Master’s student in Food and Nutritional Science at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where she works as a graduate research assistant for Dr. Roberta Silva. Her current research focuses on oleogel and emulsion delivery systems for probiotics. Rycal has a BS in animal science and laboratory animal science and plans to earn her PhD and work in research and development. Rycal’s awards include earning first place in the NC A&T Fall 2021 College of Agriculture and Environmental Science (CAES) Research poster competition, and 2nd place in both the 1890 Association of Research Directors (ARD) 2022 research symposium oral presentation and the American Oil Chemists Society (AOCS) e-poster pitch competition 2022. Rycal is a Greensboro NC native where she loves to work in the community. Rycal is a Greensboro (NC) native where she is involved in various community organizations such as directing the children’s handbell choir at Trinity A.M.E Zion Church, concert harpist and vocalist. Her other skillsets include, Running Fist Kung Fu, photography, and videography.
