P. Isaac Robledo is a staff scientist for the Filtration & Life Sciencess group of Imerys Performance Minerals Americas. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Isaac has been working on ICP-OES analysis for trace metal detection in oils (frying oils, biodiesel, renewable diesel, and edible oils). His current work supportig colleage Neal Williams' research is for contaminant removak in renewable diesel feedstocks - primarily phospholipids and metals by adsorbent filtration. All of his ICP-OES analysis is of digested oils in nitric acid. In order to validate this procedure reference materials are continously measured internally. With his presentation, Isaac hopes to start discussion into the development of an official AOCS method for microwave digestion for ICP trace metals analysis in oils.
