This session will provide a high-level overview of a new microbial lipids platform for food and cosmetic applications. In addition, a new lipidomics workflow sheds light on microalgae lipidome and provides eco-innovative methods for extracting valuable lipids enriched in n-3 and n-6 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. Also, the application of ultrasound-assisted extraction to oleaginous photoautotrophic microalgae increases lipid extraction, producing variability in lipid quality indicators.
