This session will show how eicosapentaenoic acid is a synthesis product of alpha-linolenic acid. These data suggest a critical role for ACSL6-mediated lipid metabolism in synucleinopathies, neurological health, and aging. Another study found that the choroid plexus, a network of blood vessels in each brain ventricle, consumes more arachidonic acid than is renewed, providing another mechanistic explanation of brain inflammation. Also, a presentation will share new insights on the brain’s requirement for dietary alpha-linoleic acid
