Abstract: Bleaching is an important step in the processing of vegetable oils where undesirable substances are removed from the oils prior to deodorization, however, the good performance of clarification depends strongly on the previous steps of the process, such as degumming, washing and neutralization. In this talk we will review the impact of these steps on the clarification process, specifically the effect of acid degumming on the removal of phosphorus during bleaching.
