The capillary-tunneling method has been developed for hydrocarbon recovery to better mimic flow through porous media. A presenter will discuss using it as a pre-screen test before the spontaneous imbibition or core flooding program. Also, several aqueous-foam-based gas conformance enhancement field pilots for enhanced oil recovery have been conducted in the last 30 years. A presenter will discuss a 3D five-spot reservoir simulation model that captures a vertical conformance problem in a carbon dioxide flood. The session will also focus on new demulsifiers, often called emulsion breakers, to separate water from crude oil emulsions.
