Anthony J. Kinney is the leader of the Output Traits Discovery group in the Trait Discovery organization at Corteva Agriscience™ , based in Wilmington, DE. In this role, he leads a group of scientists in Johnston, Iowa, responsible for the discovery, optimization and lead development of traits that add value to seeds by modifying their composition using CRISPR-based gene editing and other genetic modification technology. In addition to output trait related research he has previously led insect control, disease resistance, high-throughput phenotyping and plant genetic transformation groups and was the Delaware site leader for DuPont Pioneer. With DuPont Pioneer he led the discovery, development and commercialization of the first consumer-facing transgenic trait in soybeans, Plenish® High Oleic Soybeans. Tony earned a doctorate in plant science andagriculture from Oxford University in 1985 and a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Sussex, UK, in1980. He has had postdoctoral research experience in plant science at Louisiana State University, and in food science at Rutgers University.
