Houdek began as Prairie AquaTech, the Brookings, SD based manufacturer of ME-PRO® plant-based protein for the aqua feed (aquaculture) industry. However, opportunity grew to utilize the company's proprietary fermentation process to serve other markets. Houdek was launched in 2023 to act as the flagship brand for three divisions: Prairie AquaTech™, Prairie Pet Nutrition™, and Prairie Human Health™.
Though the depth and breadth of the original idea has certainly expanded, the original virtues of producing sustainable, traceable, and responsible ingredients for the world remain as firm and fertile as Houdek soil!
